About:
Maria’s passion for music dawned at the tender age of 5, when she persisted with her parents to take piano lessons. Her parents remained skeptical after having experienced unsuccessful attempts with Maria’s brother in the same subject. But in the end, her tenacity paid off and she studied piano until age 19, including classical music, blues and modern classic. Maria’s urge to move around on stage freely, lead her to teaching herself guitar at age 16, followed by guitar studies with Maurice Nicholls from the age of 21. Her education concluded after a two-year vocal training at Scream Factory in Frankfurt with Janet Carter. Maria regards herself as much of a ‘composer’ as a ‘guitarist’. Her passion is for the songwriting and not for egocentric guitar solos. She keeps her ideas influenced by rhythms and new music styles.
